Are you interested to read contemporary Chinese short stories and literary works to discuss with others? Then come join our Advanced Chinese Reading Club where you can improve your spoken Chinese in a relaxed atmosphere while discussion contemporary Chinese fiction. Discussions are facilitated by a Chinese literature professor from Beijing Language and Culture University and there are no membership fees or dues required. Contact us for more information.

Chinese Calligraphy

The free Chinese Calligraphy Workshops every Tuesday at 10am are extended for May. Please join us as we explore this ancient art form. Learn how to create your own visually stunning piece of Chinese calligraphy while practicing the basic techniques that are the foundation of all Chinese brush art. All are welcome in the CIMason reading room in the East Building room 129.

The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, George Mason University and the Confucius Institute at Mason are pleased to host one of the local venues for the 13th Annual CHINA Town Hall discussion, “The Effects of the U.S.-China Relationship on Our Communities.”
The evening will begin with a reception and refreshments (hors d’oeuvre) at 5:15 p.m. The substantive portion of the program will begin at 5:50 p.m. with opening remarks and a live national webcast featuring a discussion to be moderated by George Stephanopoulos, Chief Anchor of ABC News. Panelists will include Mr. Stephen A. Orlins, President of the NCUSCR; Dr. Melanie Hart, Senior Fellow and Director for China Policy at the Center for American Progress; Dr. Yasheng Huang, Epoch Foundation Professor of International Management and Faculty Director of Action Learning at MIT’s Sloan School of Management; and Dr. Ely Ratner, Executive Vice President and Director of Studies, Center for a New American Security.

On April 9, University Libraries and CIMason will be hosting a free showing of Monster Hunt, a film about a man going on an adventure to return a baby Monster home. This film was hugely popular in China when it came out; now you can see you much you like it. We will serve dinner and have Chinese tea afterwards as we discuss the films and its themes.
